A scent shaped by the moments we choose to share.
Life moves quickly, often filling our days before we have time to notice them passing. Attention is pulled outward as phones light up and conversations are interrupted, making it harder for moments to linger in the way they once did. Even when we are together, it can be difficult to stay fully present, our focus divided between the people in front of us and everything else asking to be seen.
Heartfire was created from a desire to slow this rhythm and return to a more intentional way of being with one another. It reflects the understanding that closeness does not simply happen, but is built through conscious choices to pause, to listen and to give time and attention freely. In a world that rewards constant movement and ‘busyness’, Heartfire offers permission to stop.At Gentle Habits, we believe scent can act as a guide, marking moments of transition and helping us arrive more fully in the present. Heartfire is an invitation to put the phone away, remain at the table a little longer and allow connection to deepen without distraction; whether that looks like a shared meal, a conversation between friends, or time spent side by side in comfortable silence.
The scent itself unfolds gradually, mirroring the way presence grows when we stop rushing. It opens with a soft brightness of lemon before warming into a smoky tobacco heart, then settling into grounding cedarwood that lingers calmly in the background. Rather than demanding attention, Heartfire creates an atmosphere of steadiness and warmth that supports closeness without overpowering it.
Offered as both incense and perfume oil, Heartfire can be experienced in two ways. The incense gently fills a space, weaving through evenings at home and unhurried conversations with family or friends. The perfume oil rests close to the skin, subtle and warming slowly throughout the day. Together, they form a ritual that feels intimate and lived in.
Heartfire was created by Gentle Habits’ founder, Sophie Marshall, during a period of reflection on how easily connection can be lost in busy lives and how much care it can take to preserve it.
When life becomes full and the people you love aren’t always physically close, you begin to recognise how important it is to truly show up when you are together. To me, Heartfire is saying “I love you” at the end of every phone call with my son, who lives interstate.
"It is a simple action that has become my nightly ritual before bed. It’s a reminder that the smallest daily habits can become a ritual of expression. With Heartfire, I wanted to honour those small moments, choosing presence and each other, even as countless distractions compete for our attention."
– Sophie Marshall, Founder of Gentle Habits
Gentle Habits has long explored the idea of scent scheduling, using fragrance to support different moods, times of day and seasons throughout the year. Some scents are made for slow mornings or clear focus, others for creative flow as the day unfolds, while some are for evenings that call for rest and unwinding. Heartfire belongs to the quieter hours, when the pace softens and there is room to connect more deeply.
At its core, Heartfire reflects a modern understanding of love, one rooted not in grand gestures but in everyday intention. It lives in the choice to place the phone face down (or put it away entirely!) and to let those moments breathe.
“Sometimes it is as simple as giving someone your full attention. Those are the experiences I wanted to capture with Heartfire, moments where you burn gently and love deeply.” – SM
Heartfire is a quiet response to a fast moving world, created to support closeness in a way that feels sincere. It is the scent of warmth and connection, of soft smoke and steady presence, lingering long after the moment itself has passed. An ode to love as it truly is.
Burn gently. Love deeply.
